About the Opportunity

Fraser Valley Refrigeration is looking for full-time Ammonia Refrigeration Technicians to join its Service and Installation teams, based out of Aldergrove, BC.

Reporting to the applicable Service or Installation leader, you will play a key part in maintaining, repairing or installing industrial ammonia and CO₂ refrigeration systems at customer facilities.

Across both Service and Installation streams, you will be responsible for completing safe, high-quality refrigeration work at customer sites, communicating clearly with customers and team members, maintaining accurate service or project documentation, and meeting regulatory requirements and Fraser Valley Refrigeration’s workmanship standards.

As a Service Technician, you will focus on troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs and equipment overhauls at operating facilities throughout the Lower Mainland, including cold storage facilities, grocery distribution centres, processing plants and ice arenas.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Diagnosing, servicing and repairing industrial ammonia and CO₂ refrigeration systems
  • Completing preventative maintenance, component replacements, compressor rebuilds and equipment overhauls
  • Responding to customer service calls and participating in the rotating after-hours on-call schedule

As an Installation Technician, you will work on new system builds, retrofits and larger projects throughout the Lower Mainland and, at times, in other locations requiring out-of-town travel. Projects may continue for several weeks or months. Candidates with experience in either stream, or across both, are encouraged to apply.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Installing ammonia and CO₂ refrigeration systems for new builds, expansions and retrofit projects
  • Reading drawings and schematics, laying out piping, and completing industrial pipefitting and mechanical installations
  • Coordinating work with project teams and providing crew leadership based on your experience

About You

To qualify, you will have 5+ years of related hands-on experience in industrial ammonia refrigeration, industrial piping, or mechanical service and installation.

Ideally, you will hold a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic trade certification. We will also consider certified Millwrights, Pipefitters, Steamfitters and Plumbers with relevant industrial piping or mechanical experience. Candidates with substantial related experience but no Canadian trade certification may also be considered.

The following are required:

  • A valid driver’s licence and clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel to customer facilities and project sites as required
  • Availability to join the rotating after-hours on-call schedule for Service positions

Depending on the stream, the following skills and experience will be highly valued:

  • Troubleshooting, servicing and maintaining industrial ammonia refrigeration systems
  • Rebuilding compressors and completing major equipment overhauls
  • Installing ammonia and CO₂ refrigeration systems
  • Industrial pipefitting, system layout and mechanical installation experience
  • Reading refrigeration drawings, schematics and project plans
  • Working with large industrial refrigeration plants and related control systems
  • Working independently at customer sites or contributing as part of an installation crew
  • Leading crews and coordinating work on larger installation projects

As our ideal candidate, you are a dependable and safety-minded tradesperson with sound judgement, strong mechanical aptitude and pride in doing the job properly. You communicate well with customers and colleagues, take ownership of your work and can adapt to the needs of different facilities and project sites.

This is an excellent opportunity to bring your industrial refrigeration or mechanical trade experience to a skilled team and build your career within either Service or Installation.
