Exciting Environmental Opportunities Await
New Gold is currently seeking an Environmental Specialist and an Environmental Compliance Coordinator to join the Rainy River Project – a combined open pit and underground mine processing 21,000 tonnes per day.
The Rainy River Project office is located at in Emo, Ontario, approximately 65 kilometers Northwest of Fort Frances. The successful candidates will be required to reside in the community and relocation assistance is available.
As the Rainy River Project moves from a planning/permitting phase into construction and operation, we must meet our commitments regarding environmental management. The Environmental Specialist is responsible for leading the integration and implementation of environmental commitments onsite, and communicating the effectiveness of environmental management measures.
For this role, we are seeking candidates with adegree in environmental engineering or applied science, and who iseligible for P.Eng status. You will also have at least5 years of experience working on mining or large civil contraction projects, ideally in Ontario.
To succeed in this role, you must have demonstrated ability to liaise and work with engineering, design, construction and procurement teams, as well as contractors and operations to integrate environmental requirements. Similarly, you must be familiar with current Ontario environmental regulations and guidelines related to waste and water management and metal mining effluent regulations. A proven track record working with First Nation and regulatory agencies is required, as is proficiency with MS Office and scheduling software.
Environmental Compliance Coordinator
We have a great opportunity for an experienced Internal Compliance Coordinator to support our teams and ensure that our company remains compliant with regulatory approval and permit requirements. In this role, you will be engaging with most operating departments and supporting them as they incorporate requirements into operating practices and procedures.
For this role, we are seeking candidates with10 years of experience in developing and managing environmental management systems(or similar). You will also haveexperience as a field auditor/investigator, as well as first-hand knowledge of the Federal and Provincial regulations, including EPA, DFO, Metal Mine Effluent Regulations, Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act, and Species at Risk Act.
To succeed in this role, you must have a solid understanding of the environmental impact of mining and milling processes, as well as experience and competency in Aboriginal/First Nations engagement. Most importantly, you will be an excellent communicator with the ability and confidence to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
